Re: Thoughts on BCS Auction 'Run & Drive' condition reports?
Hey everyone, first time poster. I've been looking at some cars on bcsauction.com and a lot are listed as 'Run & Drive'. For those who have bought from BCS Auction before, how accurate is this? Does it really mean the car is good to go or is it more of a gamble? Trying to avoid a scam.

Welcome! I can speak to this. I bought a 2019 F-150 last year from BCS Auction that was listed 'Run & Drive'. It arrived and started right up, no problems. Drove it straight to my mechanic for a checkup and he was impressed with the condition. It's my daily driver now.

Yep, my experience was solid too. 'Run & Drive' on my wife's Honda CR-V meant exactly that. The battery was even good. Of course you should expect some basic maintenance but the engine and transmission were sound. BCSAuction is legit.

That's super reassuring to hear, thanks guys. The prices seem great but you always hear horror stories about online auctions.

Re: Thoughts on BCS Auction 'Run & Drive' condition reports?
One thing to remember, 'Run & Drive' is an industry term. It means at the time of inspection, the vehicle started, could be put into gear, and moved under its own power. It's not a guarantee that it's ready for a 500-mile road trip. That said, BCS Auction condition reports have always been spot-on for me. It's not a scam, just gotta know what the terms mean.

It's not just cars. I bought a Sea Ray boat from bcsauction.com. The report was detailed and accurate. I was more worried about the title transfer on something like a boat, but the clear title arrived with the delivery paperwork. Process was smooth.

@Diesel_Dan is right. Think of it as a starting point. My 'Run & Drive' Miata from BCS Auction needed new brake pads and a fluid change, which is totally expected for an auction car. The engine was strong, which was the important part.

I had a small issue where my delivery was delayed by a day. I was getting nervous but their support was good. The car itself, a Subaru Outback, was exactly as the 'Run & Drive' report suggested. Started in the cold rain lol.

Re: Thoughts on BCS Auction 'Run & Drive' condition reports?
NervousBuyer_88, I felt the same way you did. I won a 2020 Civic on BCSAuction and held my breath until it arrived. It was perfect. I think their business model relies on volume and repeat customers, so they have an incentive to be accurate. My title transfer was also handled perfectly, got the clear title right with the car.

Re: Thoughts on BCS Auction 'Run & Drive' condition reports?
As a pro mechanic, I've had two clients bring me 'Run & Drive' cars they bought from bcsauction.com for inspection. Both times, the cars were exactly as you'd expect: they started, ran, and drove. One needed new tires and an alignment. The other was good to go after an oil change. They are not hiding major engine or transmission issues in my experience.

Wow, thank you everyone. This is a huge confidence booster. @Diesel_Dan that clarification is super helpful. It makes sense that it's a snapshot in time. I'm feeling much better about placing a bid on this Camry on BCS Auction now.

Good luck! We got our Winnebago from them. The process was way more straightforward than I thought it would be. The website bcsauction.com is pretty easy to navigate once you do it once.

Re: Thoughts on BCS Auction 'Run & Drive' condition reports?
I had a question about the bidding process, felt a bit confusing. Their customer service took a day to get back to my email but the person who called me was really patient and walked me through it. I think I get it now.

@QuestionAsker Glad they helped. You can also reach them at office@bcsauction.com, they've been good about replying to specific questions about listings for me in the past.

Bottom line, BCS Auction is a solid place for repossessed vehicles. Just do your homework, read the full report, and understand what the terms mean. You can get a great deal.
